Alongside our rescued residents, the sanctuary is also home to animals the native birds, deer, elk, moose, coyotes, squirrels and other Colorado wildlife.

Goats

This is Harold, one of many goats here at Bleating Hearts. Naturally gregarious and playful , they exude great joy when running, leaping and butting heads. Often very affectionate, there are some that just won’t leave your side during an entire visit.

Ducks and Geese

Our water friends…

All in all, a pretty lively and happy bunch. We welcome visitors and those willing to help!

Sheep

Meet JC , one of our many sheep. While generally more reserved than their caprine cousins, the pastoral serenity and grace is a delight to anyone who has the good fortune to get to know them.

Rabbits

Rabbits are highly social animals that spend the day grooming one another, playfully giving chase and digging elaborate burrow systems..

Our Llama, Harvey

Our only llama, a good friend to the sheep and goats. Perhaps our most stately resident, Harvey retains his dignity when trying to ignore the antics of “those silly goats”.

Chickens

Chickens are the land animal abused in the largest number on the planet. Often raised in cramped conditions, they are unable to satisfy instincts like taking dustbathes, scratching for food and perching. They have a complex social network and communication system with a great variety of meaningful vocalizations.

It’s all about the animals - always!

Help us help them.
